Modular contactors – reliable load control

Among the devices available in the modular equipment section, modular contactors occupy a special place, used for safe and convenient switching on and off of electrical circuits. These compact, yet exceptionally durable components are indispensable in any installation requiring device automation – from lighting to heating and ventilation systems.

Where are modular contactors used?

Installation contactors mounted on a DIN rail are designed for use in home and industrial switchboards. They enable remote and automatic load control in:

  • internal and external lighting systems,
  • heating installations – e.g. control of heaters, boilers, underfloor heating,
  • fans and air conditioners,
  • single-phase and three-phase motors,
  • industrial and home automation systems.

In combination with control timers or time relays they enable the construction of automated time and logic control systems.

Construction and Principle of Operation of Contactors

A contactor operates as a safe power relay – when activated, an electromagnet attracts an armature, which closes the main circuit. Modular versions use both NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) contacts, allowing for complete operational flexibility. The contactor housing is adapted for mounting on a standard 35 mm DIN rail, so it can be easily integrated with other devices in electrical switchboard.

Technical parameters – how to choose a modular contactor?

When choosing a modular contactor, it is worth paying attention to:

  • coil control voltage (usually 230 V AC, but 24 V or 110 V versions are also available),
  • number and type of contacts (1P, 2P, 4P),
  • maximum load current (e.g. 16 A, 25 A, 40 A),
  • load capacity for currents AC-1 (general loads) and AC-3 (inductive loads, e.g., motors),
  • operating time and mechanical and electrical durability.

By matching the above parameters, a DIN rail contactor can seamlessly cooperate with devices with various requirements, ensuring stable and long-term operation of the installation.

Why is it worth using contactors in installations?

The use of an installation contactor increases the safety of electrical devices by eliminating the need to manually switch high-power circuits. Furthermore, thanks to remote and automatic control, it is possible to reduce energy consumption and thus lower operating costs. The contactors also work perfectly with building automation systems, enabling their integration with sensors, programmers or PLC controllers.

Proven solutions for home and industrial applications

Our offer includes electrical contactors from well-known and respected brands, ensuring high quality of workmanship, reliability and compliance with applicable standards. The products are available in single- and three-phase versions, with a different number of contacts, which allows for a wide range of applications – from simple lighting installations to advanced machine control systems.
